An outstanding example of Vincent Bach's early New York craftsmanship, this vintage Bach 3 (no letter) trumpet mouthpiece features the distinctive serif-font engraving associated with Bach's earlier New York production, approximately the mid-1920s through the 1940s. Mouthpieces from this period are highly regarded by collectors and performing artists for their distinctive contours, playing characteristics, and connection to the earliest years of Vincent Bach's mouthpiece production.

The Bach 3 (no letter) features Bach's deepest cup designation, producing an exceptionally dark, rich, and resonant sound. This distinctive model has been popularized by internationally acclaimed trumpeter Chris Botti, whose warm, lyrical sound has become synonymous with the vintage New York Bach 3. While Botti plays a heavily modified example featuring an exceptionally large #13 bore, this mouthpiece retains its original, unaltered #27 bore, preserving the traditional playing characteristics of the design.

This example has been carefully restored by Bob Reeves Brass Mouthpieces. The rim exhibited minor pitting, which was expertly burnished to provide a smoother playing surface while preserving the integrity of the original rim contour. The mouthpiece was subsequently replated, with particular attention paid to maintaining the original geometry and playing characteristics. Some minor pitting remains visible on the rim, although the playing surface has been smoothed for improved comfort.

The cup is smooth and well preserved, while the exterior surfaces exhibit minor wear consistent with the mouthpiece's age. Overall, this is an excellent example of an increasingly desirable vintage Bach model, thoughtfully restored for continued performance.
